Alexia Rodriguez began her culinary career as a young girl. At 14, she had her first job at a local diner working third shift. As she worked her way through the kitchen she was unknowingly putting her self through culinary school by the way of hard work. She landed her first corporate chef position at 23, managing a hotel kitchen in a nearby town from where she grew up. Five years later she discovered the wonderful city of Cleveland and never looked back. Her skills as a chef have become multifaceted, dabbling in everything from Asain cuisine to modern Mexican before she conquered the all time favorite- breakfast menu. She settled in Ohio City as a Chef for her now- favorite restaurant- Johnny Mango and learned how to develop different kinds of menus for her colleagues in the city. Discovering The West Side Market was an extra added bonus. She grabbed the opportunity to be a part of it by forming The Pork Chop Shop with her business partner-Emma Beno. Almost three years later, the two have built their business by personalizing their pork products and striving to educate people about nutrition and health when it comes to food.
“I honestly never thought my life and work in the culinary industry would take me this far. It’s not always easy in any industry if you’re the underdog but-we all have the strength to rise to the occasion. I only hope I can do it justice by continuing to bring my community great food, knowledge and nutritional education while I am here. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.” – Alexia Rodriguez
